Wasps deny Shaw rumours
Wasps director of rugby Tony Hanks has rejected rumours that experienced lock Simon Shaw will be leaving the club to join South African side Golden Lions.
The 36-year-old second row, who is still involved with the England side despite his advanced years and also toured with the British and Irish Lions in the summer, has been linked with a move to the Super 12 in several newspapers.
But today, Hanks has denied that Shaw will be leaving Adams Park and says he expects him to see out the remaining 18 months on his contract.
"No approach has been made to the club by any parties with regards to Simon Shaw," Hanks said.
"He is contracted to London Wasps until the end of June 2011."
Shaw is currently sidelined with a metatarsal injury, which forced him to miss last week’s 20-15 home win over Northampton and will also keep him out of this weekend’s European Challenge Cup opener against Racing Metro.
However, Hanks said Shaw is "likely to return to full training in the very near future".
