Steven Gerrard back in court
Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard is due back in court today to face a charge of affray relating to an incident outside a Merseyside nightclub.
The 28-year-old will appear alongside six other people at Liverpool crown court this morning for a plea and direction hearing.
Gerrard was arrested in December over his alleged involvement in an incident outside the Lounge Inn, in Southport, following Liverpool’s 5-1 victory over Newcastle.
During the incident the club’s DJ Marcus McGee, 34, is alleged to have lost a tooth and required stitches to his face.
Gerrard appeared at a magistrates’ court last month when he heard an assault charge against him had been dropped, but he still faces a charge of affray.
The six individuals appearing alongside the Liverpool captain today range in age from 18 to 33 and are either charged with affray or assault and affray.
