Williams says 2010 engine deal is 'imminent'Williams’ team owner Frank Williams has said that a decision on their 2010 engine supplier is "imminent".

The Grove-based squad currently run Toyota power-plants and has been linked to a deal with Renault, although Williams admits that talks with the French manufacturer were delayed by the ‘crashgate’ race-fixing scandal.

Williams are now looking at their options for next season, but the team owner said that a decision must be made soon to prevent the team falling behind with development of their 2010 contender.

"You’ve got to get on with it and make up our minds – it must be imminent," said Williams.

"It’s a technical choice and it requires a thorough vetting and consideration period by Patrick Head and Sam Michael plus some negotiations by Adam Parr once it’s decided.

"We have to hurry up because we don’t want to get behind on designing our car."

Williams suggested Cosworth was still possibility, although he admitted that the team were excited about the possibility of being named ‘Williams-Renault’ again.

"Cosworth is an independent company," said Williams.

"The warmth that a manufacturer’s engine provides is a useful feeling."ADNFCR-708-ID-19395283-ADNFCR
